Stomach bug and friendly faces

Today was a very good day for me.

I feeling much better than I felt yesterday. When I contracted some sort of stomach bug, causing me to throw up three times.

When you have a tracheostomy, throwing up can be a pretty scary proposition.

I also got a surprise visit from a few old and dear friends. Two of them were a surprise.

One of them Dan, of the workshopdan.com fame, you know the guy I told you about in a previous BLOG post, who I was expecting to finish our front door.

Along with him were a couple of dear friends, I haven't seen in almost ten years.

Now I know what you're thinking. If they are such great friends, why has it been almost ten years since you've seen them?

First, and this goes for Dan too, the reason is that I let life get away from me. It was completely my fault. And B, (I know it's supposed to be second, I just thought that would be funny, ) I believe that true friends can go even longer without seeing each other.

Though I certainly don't recommend it!

As soon as I saw them walk through the front door, I recognized them both, and my smile got bigger than Cheshire cats.

My heart was instantly filled with joy.

Dan had brought Bill & Marie Flurry along with him. This certainly applies to Dan as well.

There are certain people in your life, and it doesn't matter how long you go, without seeing each other, you can take it up like it was just yesterday that you last got together.

Before Dan and Bill went to work on our front door, everybody, including Jonell and Lydia, talked about the old days, and they updated us on the people we had known, who had passed on, and we reminisced on the good memories we had together.

Soon Dan and Bill were making themselves busy with our front door, while Marie, sat and continued to talk to us, all of us laughing, joking, and crying. Bill, Dan, and Marie were part of my church family.

The fellowship we have shared has been immense.

We were involved in missions to lend aid, for Hurricane Katrina relief, as well as rebuilding homes in Joplin, Missouri. We even had a program, where we would offer help to those in our community, who needed work done on their homes, but had limited means to get it done.

It is ironic that I now find myself in that same position.  It was a very satisfying day. When everything was completed, and our time together was finished, we said our goodbyes.

But this time, somehow I knew that we would see each other again soon.

And I'm not referring to the Heavenly reunion, I'm confident we will have it someday!
