Blessings

Blessings

In my effort to focus on the positive in my life, I'm going to mention them here. This is in no way a complete list, as I'm certain that I will forget more than I will remember. BTW, I attribute this to my advanced age, and not my condition.

As I am writing this in the morning, I know, maybe not my most productive time. But I am awake and in the mood to write. So be prepared for my best and my worst. So let's rip the band-aid off, and get this BLOG rolling.

It's early, and my attention is drawn to the piter-pater of little feet. It's the sound I hear every morning as my dogs do their happy dance, signifying that my wife will soon be emerging from our bedroom, and the start of another day for me.

I have the love of my wife, daughter, friends and the rest of my family, and that's a great feeling. Something everyone should be greatful for. It's truly one the great gifts in life.

I survived a stroke that few people ever do.

Several years ago, I survived a heart attack that even fewer people survive.

Of the three types of locked in Syndrome there are, I believe mine to be the incomplete type, which offers the greatest hope of at least a partial recovery from what confines me to this bed.

I'm home with my family, where I want to be. And believe me, there isn't a hospital or nursing home, that can replace what I get here.

This machine, on which I create this BLOG, and allows me to communicate with everyone.

The great medical care that I receive, by the hands of an incredible home health care company, and an awesome bunch of people. Even if I never would have met them, had I not had my stroke. I now count them among my friends.

In spite of my condition and heart problems, I am otherwise in pretty good health. My blood pressure is down, and my resting heart rate is good. After all it should be, I've literally been just laying in bed for nine months.

My list is incomplete I'm sure. I said from the beginning that it would be. I am sure that once I get through with this BLOG, I will undoubtedly, think of others I forgot about. We often take for granted, things which occur in our lives, which happen with such regularity, that we forget to be thankful for them. May I suggest, that when you recognize one of these moments in your life,  that you take pause and give thanks, or better yet, write it down. You may be surprised, your list may grow longer than you think!

  1. I'm grateful for my family and I'm grateful that I can call you and your family my friends. I'm grateful you were in our wedding party and I'm grateful for your marriage advice (we've taken your advice many times 😉). Hang in there, Bob.

  2. Hi Bob. I am a former ci-worker of Jonell’s. I met you once with my kids and hubs to look at a car. Sue Crawford is my name and that was a long, long time ago. Like 25 years!!

I am grateful for many things but most of all for our Lord Jesus Christ who gave me life! And I’m grateful to you for showing me what it’s like to be strong. You amaze me!
