Acknowledge important people!
In a continuing effort to document the people in my life, not just to remember the key players, after all, my memory isn't the best these days. But also to pay tribute to those that bring me joy, when this is the time in my life when I need to focus on the positive.
I told you one reason why Wednesdays were one of my favorite days, Josh. Another is Amanda.
Amanda is my social worker. Since December I have had the pleasure of getting to know this soft-spoken and caring woman, who has helped both me and my wife. She has chosen a career, suitable to her personality. You can tell that she wants to help.
I've decided to spend this week, focusing on my blessings, rather than on my trials. Yes, the topic of this week's devotional from Josh. But I have always considered myself a glass is half full kind of guy.
I have however noticed that these past nine months have resulted in an unusual number of self-pity parties.
Not any more! Going forward, I will count my blessings, rather than dwell on the negative. Amanda is one of the blessings in my life, along with many more.
There are so many blessings, too many to try to list. Even in light of my condition, I can't complain. Perhaps this is the message I have been seeking. I have been looking for this powerful voice from the clouds, like something from a Charleston Heston movie about Noah, it could be that my message is hidden in a devotional that I received about joy.
From this point forward, I'm going to spend a part of each day, reflecting on the blessings of my life. If nothing else, I will be focusing on the positive which is in my life. And that will create positive energy, which I look at as a good thing.
I've been a positive person my entire life. I see a little thing, like suddenly becoming a quadriplegic change 61 years of perfection!
